I’m at this conference today. My friend Bryan Mason put it together with his business partner. Awesome chance to meet people of an entrepreneurial (sp?!) spirit. My favorite tip thus far: The best way to get investment is NOT to need it. And: No means maybe; yes means maybe. (via Marc Hedlund, founder of wesabe.com).

“Stanford University today announced the largest increase in its history for its financial aid program for undergraduates. Under the new program, parents with incomes of less than $100,000 will no longer pay tuition. Parents with incomes of less than $60,000 will not be expected to pay tuition or contribute to the costs of room, board and other expenses. Students will still be expected to contribute their earnings from work during the summer and academic year…”

(Stanford follows Harvard and Yale who made similiar decisions earlier this year).

Finding safe cosmetics:

Ummm…so some major cosmetics companies use lead in their lipsticks. Hello…we all know lead paint is a no-no…why in the world would it be okay to put on our lips? Unfortunately, it seems cosmetic companies are not held accountable for using ingedients that are known to cause cancer, reproductive problems, etc etc etc. Insane. But, this website offers a quick way (database) to check out how “safe” your lotions, shampoos, makeup etc. are: www.safecosmetics.org

I don’t think I really need to go into a commentary on how ridiculous it is that I have to go online to a database and research to find cosmetics that are not hazardous to my health. Right?
